Secretary of State Rex Tillerson seemed in vain to his visit to Moscow in the first half of April. This recognition he made in an interview with the American radio station NPR.

Tillerson visited Moscow on April 11 - 12. During the visit, he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. "We did not decide anything at this meeting," said the head of the State Department. In his estimation, at the moment the US-Russia relations are even worse than in the days of the "cold war". In Moscow, they agree.

Speaking on the radio, Tillerson once again proposed to our country to decide on whose side it is. "Russia needs to decide whether it wants to play a positive role in the global world order or destructive," he said..

Before the visit to Moscow, the head of the State Department delivered an ultimatum to Russia: either it joins the Western camp in the solution of the Syrian question, or remains on the side of Syrian President Bashar Assad. The choice of the second option, according to Tillerson, "does not meet the long-term interests" of Russia.

Answering the question of the radio host about how important for constructive relations with Moscow is Tillerson's long experience of interaction with the Russian leadership as president of Exxon Mobil, he replied that officials in Moscow, at least, "do not have to find out who this Guy Rex Tillerson ".

"Perhaps the benefit comes from my manner of communication, which is extremely frank and does not contain hints. Interacting with the Russian leadership in the past, I realized that this is the style they respect, "added the Secretary of State.

After Tillerson's visit to Russia, the US administration said that this trip was "a positive step," and Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov called Putin's meeting with Tillerson a constructive. At the same time, Sergei Lavrov noted that the results of the visit of the US Secretary of State to Moscow will not come soon, "but at least we agreed to establish a dialogue on a number of important issues".

The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry also said that the conversation was "about an inventory of the problems that were created by the previous administration (the US) in bilateral relations, as well as mechanisms for the implementation of existing treaties in the military-political sphere, mechanisms that are designed to bring our Position on the Syrian settlement ".

In an interview with Rex Tillerson, an American radio station also touched on the theme of North Korea. According to Tillerson, the US administration is ready for direct and open talks with the DPRK on the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. Head of the State Department is ready to head the meeting of the UN Security Council on this issue.

"If you listen to North Korea, it becomes clear that they consider nuclear weapons the only way to preserve their regime.

We hope to convince them that there is no need. The US does not aspire to the collapse of the regime. We are striving for the soonest reunification of the country, we are striving for a nuclear-free peninsula, "said Tillerson.

Earlier, Washington released much less peaceful statements to the DPRK. President of the United States Donald Trump has repeatedly made it clear that America is ready to strike North Korea if it does not stop developing nuclear weapons and testing ballistic missiles.
