The European Union is awaiting the Verkhovna Rada's approval of the bill on the Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine until mid-June 2017.

"In accordance with the obligations undertaken by Ukraine to the IMF, the law on the creation of the Anti-Corruption Court should be adopted until mid-June 2017," the EU mission said in response to a request for the preparation of the relevant bill.

The European mission indicated that the introduction of this bill is in the competence of the Ukrainian authorities, in particular - in the competence of the Verkhovna Rada, the government and the president.

It is noted that the law on the judicial system and the status of judges provides for the establishment of the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court, and the implementation of legislation will determine the mandate, organizational structure, as well as the selection process of its judges.

"The informal working group, composed of members of international donor organizations and civil society experts, has developed some proposals for the creation of this court, focusing on the interaction of this new court with the existing judicial system, the selection procedure for judges, as well as on guarantees of security and impartiality , Which should regulate this process, "- said in the response of the representation.

The EU insists that the creation of the Anti-Corruption Court is not just part of the overall judicial reform in the country, but it is also of particular importance for sustainability and success in fighting corruption.

Earlier, the head of the EU Delegation in Ukraine, Hug Mingarelli, said that in Ukraine, it is necessary to create an anticorruption court as soon as possible. "This is very, very important," the EU ambassador said..

"The fight against corruption is in the right direction. The government has implemented new laws, created new institutions, such as the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP). Now we have to make sure that they are effective and can work freely, which means that they are treated with respect, "said Mingarelli.

The director of the NABU, Artem Sytnik, in turn, said that the Anti-Corruption Court in Ukraine can be created before the end of 2017.
