Kholodnitsky expects to create an anti-corruption court by early 2018

Deputy Prosecutor General - head of the Specialized Anti-corruption Prosecutor's Office Nazar Kholodnitsky expressed hope that the anti-corruption court in Ukraine will be created no later than the beginning of next year.

"I hope that such a court will be established at least at the end of this year or in the first days of the next," the head of the SAP said on the air of the Inter TV channel on Sunday evening, March 12.

Kholodnitsky pointed to the need to form a system of specialized courts to effectively combat corruption.

He also expressed confidence that the indictment against the head of the State Fiscal Service Roman Nasirov will be drawn up and sent to the court within the statutory deadlines.

"Detectives of the NABU with procedural leaders from the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office, before announcing the suspicion at the meeting, assured me that they had 2 months of time to complete this production. I give this opportunity, and I want to see an indictment after 2 months, "the head of SAP said, recalling that the prosecution insists on increasing Nasirov's collateral amount from 100 million to 2 billion UAH.

President of the Venice Commission Giovanni Buquicchio stated that the creation of a specialized anti-corruption court is a necessary condition for overcoming corruption and restoring confidence in the judicial system in Ukraine.

Representatives of civil society, director of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine Artem Sytnik, as well as diplomats of the EU and the US, repeatedly stated about the need to create anti-corruption courts.

At the same time, the head of the Supreme Court of Ukraine Yaroslav Romanyukov, as well as the Supreme Council of Justice.

Minister of Justice Pavel Petrenko said that the creation of an anti-corruption court will be possible in 2017. But as previously wrote in his article for ZN.

UA Doctor of Juridical Sciences, Professor Nikolai Khavroniuk, now required for the launch of the Higher Anti-Corruption Court, the bill is still missing, and the prospect of its launch is postponed to 2018. At the same time, in his opinion, the establishment of the Supreme Arbitrazh Court, which was enacted by the Law on Judicial System and Status of Judges, which came into force on September 30, can most effectively be realized through the creation of an extensive system of anti-corruption courts, including the Supreme Arbitration Court, eight Trial Chambers and the Supreme Court.
