Ukrzaliznytsia has updated the schedules of 118 long-distance trains and 62 commuter trains, which will run according to the new schedule from January 22. The changes were introduced due to damage to the infrastructure on the Fastovsky section in order to improve traffic safety and return up to 91% of on-time arrivals. Ukrzaliznytsia reported this. As previously announced, ticket sales are opening gradually. About 70% of domestic flights are already available in the UZ app and website from 08:00, all international trains from 09:00, and the remaining flights will be available until the end of the day. This step-by-step approach allows you to avoid system overload and quickly respond to possible adjustments.. A total of 118 long-distance trains and 62 commuter trains will operate according to modified schedules from January 22.
The update of the schedules is due to the need for security adjustments in the Fastovsky sector, which was subject to enemy defeat. Currently, active restoration of the destroyed infrastructure continues there, and train traffic is carried out with additional restrictions.
Chairman of the Board of Ukrzaliznytsia Alexander Pertsovsky explained that usually new schedules are formed in order to speed up the movement. However, this time the company took a “painful but necessary” decision - to deliberately increase travel time for a number of flights. According to him, work on the new schedules was completed in record time in 7 days, whereas in European practice this is usually taken up to 5 months.
As a result of adjusting schedules, Ukrzaliznytsia expects to return to the level of 91% of on-time arrivals – an indicator that has already become the standard for Ukrainian passengers and is positively assessed by the company’s European partners.
In particular, all trains according to updated schedules will begin running on January 22. Passengers are advised to check the current departure and arrival times when purchasing tickets, and also monitor official communications from the company in case of additional changes..
