The European Union (EU) intends to reconsider its immigration policy and begin the deportation of persons who refused asylum and convicted criminals. New norms are promoted by the authorities of Poland.

According to The Times, this is stated in the diplomatic document, which was sent to the member countries of the European Union. The update of the rules involves the departure from the norms of the Convention on refugees adopted in 1951, recognizing it no longer in accordance with its purpose.

In particular, the EU plans to retreat from the principle of non -raffle, according to which no asylum petitioner can be returned to a country where his life or freedom may be a serious threat. The main reason was the migration crisis that Europe faced after 2015 due to a massive influx of refugees from the countries of the Middle East and North Africa.

"

Of particular concern is a too narrow list of situations in which national governments are authorized to refuse to the provisors to provide asylum. The initiators of abandoning the old rules are sure that the previous politicians do not take into account the current reality.

" The absence of alternatives to accept applications for the provision of international protection and compliance with the principle of non -raffle, of course, require an in -depth discussion, ”the document says.

In the future, it is planned to discuss such an initiative at the international level in order to make legal changes to the Convention on refugees. They were already supported by the authorities of the United States and the UK.

" The ability of the EU member states to accept a large number of migrants is increasingly subjected to testing, especially in situations where some migrants do not seek to integrate into the society that has accepted them, but instead form individual communities in which the norms and rules that deviate from European values \u200b\u200bcan be cultivated "

The authors of the appeal were Polish politicians and diplomats. He has already been discussed at a meeting of the Ministers of the Interior of the EU member countries, which took place last week.
