Coca-Cola has withdrawn its products in some European countries. In the drinks of several brands, increased chloratus levels were found - a substance that is formed during water purification and processing of food products using disinfectant chlorine -containing means.
According to BBC, the company noted that the main part of the problematic products was found in Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany and the Netherlands. Five products of products also got to the UK, but by the time they were recalled, they had already been sold.
An increased concentration of chlorates was recorded in brands Coke, Fanta, Sprite, Tropico and Minute Maid. The company clarified that the problem affected a small number of banks Appletiser, Coca-Cola Original Taste, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, Diet Coke and Sprite Zero with production codes from 328 GE to 338 GE.
" At the same time, there were no complaints from consumers.
The impact of high concentrations of chloratus can cause health problems, including problems with the thyroid gland, especially in children and babies, and in adults with excessive use can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and also complicate the omnipotence of oxygen. The nutritionist of the UK National Health Service Caron Grazett added that this substance is also used in the production of fireworks.
The manufacturer noted that the problem could arise at the Coca-Cola factory in the Belgian Gene. After detecting problems, the predominant part of the non -distributed products was removed from the shelves.
