The Ministry of Community and Territorial Development together with Ukrzaliznytsia presented a project to update the rules of passenger transportation. The main innovations will affect the cost of travel in luxury carriages and the system of compensation for unused tickets.. The purpose of the changes is to overcome the problem of “empty seats” and introduce dynamic pricing.
Premium segment: price will depend on demandFor passengers of SV and 1st class carriages of Intercity trains, a market approach is being introduced within Ukraine. Now the cost of travel will not be fixed, but will be calculated based on several factors:.
Time of purchase: the earlier you buy, the cheaper; Seasonality: trips in February will be more affordable than summer trips; Popularity of the day: a ticket for Monday will be cheaper than for Friday evening; Occupancy: last seats on the train will cost more.
The reform does not affect the social segment - prices for reserved seats, coupes and 2nd class Intercity remain unchanged. At the same time, the cost of travel in international carriages will increase by approximately 20%..
Returning tickets: the sooner, the better.
Statistics show that 70% of passengers return tickets only four days before the flight, which is why the railway does not have time to resell them. To solve this problem, a progressive refund scale is being introduced:.
15 - 20 days - 100% of the cost.
10 - 14 days - 90% of the cost.
5 - 9 days - 75% of the cost.
1 - 4 days - 50% of the cost.
Less than 24 hours ~30% of cost (no changes).
These rules will apply to all types of wagons. However, exceptions are provided: the new restrictions will not apply to the military, people with disabilities and trains running to front-line cities.
Earlier it was reported that Ukrzaliznytsia without warning raised the cost of tickets for commuter trains.
