Starting from January 1, a national program for early detection of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and mental health problems called “Health Screening 40+” began operating in Ukraine.. This was announced by Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko.

She recalled that, according to the terms of the program, every citizen of Ukraine over the age of 40 will receive a personal invitation in the Diya application to screen their health on the 30th day after their birthday.

What is included in the screening.

The Ministry of Health reports that this screening includes:.

health screening participant questionnaire and standardized risk assessment (including cardiovascular risk, type 2 diabetes risk, tobacco and alcohol use, anxiety and depression levels);

physical examination, covering measurement of blood pressure (including home or 24-hour blood pressure monitoring), heart rate with assessment of pulse rhythm, anthropometry (body weight, height, body mass index, waist circumference), collection of complaints and clinical symptoms;

laboratory tests, in particular lipid profile, glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), and, if indicated, measurements of kidney function (creatinine with calculation of glomerular filtration rate, urine albumin/creatinine) and electrolytes (sodium, potassium);

instrumental examinations according to indications, in particular, electrocardiography and daily/home blood pressure monitoring;

individual preventive counseling with recommendations for lifestyle changes (nutrition, physical activity, weight control, tobacco cessation and reduction of alcohol consumption);

registration, if necessary, of electronic referrals to specialist doctors for further diagnosis and treatment under the program of state guarantees of medical care for the population;

support after the health screening of the health screening participant, including remote communication, monitoring the implementation of referrals and entering all results into the electronic health system.
