The UZ-3000 program will not require expenditures from the state budget, said Serhiy Leshchenko, deputy chairman of the supervisory board of Ukrzaliznytsia, during a speech in the Verkhovna Rada.. He explained how in this case they plan to implement the program.

" I take this opportunity to advertise it from the rostrum of parliament. President Vladimir Zelensky announced such an initiative last week, and Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko explained that covering losses with budget funds at the expense of taxpayers does not concern the program,” Leshchenko said.

He assured allegedly state funding to cover losses in passenger transportation and the UZ-3000 program are parallel stories. Indeed, in the case of the latter, they plan to use the reserve of available seats, which, according to Leshchenko, in some months amounts to up to 700 thousand tickets.

“In general, there is a readiness to allocate 200-250 thousand passenger seats for free passenger transportation during off-peak periods through the relevant institutions,” Leshchenko added.

People's deputies voted yesterday to summon Leshchenko to the Verkhovna Rada. Then this decision was supported by 150 parliamentarians. In particular, they wanted to see the deputy chairman of the UZ supervisory board talk about the implementation of the UZ-3000 program.

This is part of the so-called winter support, the full package of which President Vladimir Zelensky ordered to be prepared by November 15. As for the direct participation of Ukrzaliznytsia, the goal of the corresponding program is to provide Ukrainians with the opportunity to travel by train for free for a distance of up to 3 thousand kilometers. According to the Ukrzaliznytsia itself, thanks to this people will be able to visit relatives, meet with defenders or spend time with children in holiday camps.
