Ukraine should initiate official discussions as soon as possible with the European Commission on the delay in the action of the mechanism of cross -border carbon adjustment (CBAM) in order to avoid significant losses for the state budget from January 1. This was stated by the expert on energy issues Gennady Ryabtsev.

According to him, today the problem is known to all key players-manufacturers associations, specialized ministries, business universities, but still there is no proper government coordination.

" The Ministry of Energy sent the corresponding letter, but for some reason sent to the government. Further, the European business association, the secretariat of the energy community, the corresponding letters sent. But the government somehow has not formalized this issue so far. And it seems that everyone knows about this problem, but for some reason they do not solve it, ”he emphasized.

Ryabtsev believes that the change of government should not be a reason for delaying decisions, and profile officials, in particular Deputy Prime Minister Taras Kachka, can quickly take this issue under personal control.

He emphasized that we are talking not only about the interests of individual enterprises, but also about filling the country's budget, which largely depends on export -oriented sectors. “Indeed, from January 1, the Ukrainian budget can significantly lose from the introduction of these restrictions for Ukraine,” Ryabtsev warned.

In his opinion, the European Commission does not have a serious opposition to delay for Ukraine, especially in the context of war with Russia.

" Or, for example, before the end of the war, that it would be good. Or at least for a year, with the possibility of further extension, ”he added.

The expert emphasized: it is necessary to solve this issue now, without waiting for the end of the year.

" It needs to be decided without waiting for December 31, ”Ryabtsev said.

Earlier, the scientific director of the Green Deal Ukraїna project Georg Tsahmann said that Ukraine has several potential ways to get a temporary delay in the action of a cross -border carbon adjustment mechanism (CBAM), which the European Union will fully introduce since 2026.
