From July 1, 2025. The country switched to new stress in sockets. Different information sources mainly praise this change as a step in the direction of the European Union, but both gross business interests and political navigation are visible behind these praises. At the same time, none of the many experts asks the question of how the numbers in the payments of the population for electricity will change. And why? After all, DTEK in the Telegram channel showed a beautiful girl who “authoritatively” explained-nothing in the payments will change, because we pay for kilowatts, and not for tension. Will it really not change?
Long path from 220V to 230V.
In fact, the decision on the transition to a new voltage standard before the NKREKU was adopted by the SE “Ukrainian Research and Training Center for the Problems of Standardization, Certification and Quality” (Ukrniur)-on May 23, 2024. “By the method of transfer, while maintaining the year of the first adoption of this European standard as a national method of confirmation, with the entry into force on March 01, 2025” - Order No. 179 “On the adoption of the National Standard of the GSTU EN 50160: 2023 (EN 50160: 2022, IDT)”.
This obscure verbal construct means that, firstly, the European standard was simply translated into Ukrainian without unnecessary tents, that is, without any accounting of national, technical or other features. Secondly, the “confirmation method” means that this standard has already been accepted, namely 04. 12. 2023, Order No. 330 - GSTU EN 50160: 2023 (EN 50160: 2022, IDT), abbreviation in brackets - European standard number.

But if you meticulously analyze the last order, we can conclude that the procedure for introducing the EU standards has been stretching since 2014. - More than 10 years! Why this transition took place for so long, one can only guess, probably, DTEK and other energy barons did not want to invest in converting their technical systems for European standards - while the war did not force. Although here they simply took advantage of the equipment that came from Europe as humanitarian aid or purchased by the government, that is, from our taxes. I think so....
One way or another, but finally, the Ukrniur GP established “The characteristics of the elaboration of the Elektropostannya in the Electric Grands of the Solving Sonte” (in the original language). After that, the national regulator made amendments to the Code of Distribution Systems, which regulates the activities of distribution system operators - former Oblenergo. In fact, they resulted in a short phrase: in paragraphs of the second and third paragraph 11. 7 numbers "
What are the consequences of the transition to 230V.
The second of the mentioned paragraphs says that between the “zero” and “phase”, if there are four wires (three phases and earth) on the network, it should be 230V, and not 220V, as before. And if there are three wires on the network (without land), then there should be 230V between the “phases”.
I wonder what in the first paragraph of this point? It turns out that nothing has changed there - if only two wires go to your counter, then nothing is required from the EE supplier, there is a voltage of 220V there remains there!

Therefore, if only one phase enters your apartment or house, and this is a huge number of multi-apartment and private houses, you will not feel anything-neither growth in tension, nor something else that would testify to improving the quality of nutrition. But it seems to me that here NKREKU made only a deceitful political curtsy in front of ordinary households, which have only one phase, unlike more prosperous, elaborate into their households as many as three. Indeed, in order to implement this technical manovschina, Oblenergo should make two separate networks on his service territory - 220V and 230V. It is clear that no one will do this. Everything will be as it is done today: three phases and zero go along the pillars, and from them it will be started one phase into a house or apartment, and who needs it - all three. Only before it was 220V, and now there will be 230V. One way or another, but Oblenergo (distribution system operators) will always win. Why?
The fact is that in the case of a rated voltage of up to 230V, the deficiency range +/- 10% expands significantly, if earlier it was from 198V to 242V, now it will be from 207V to 253V, that is, the upper boundary has grown by 10V! Now, if at the ultimate voltage, people will burn electrons, then Oblenergo has nothing to do with it - everything is within the framework of the permissible.
In fact, a 220V change in 230V is not so terrible, because modern electrical appliances are designed for such a nominal voltage, but on one condition - if there are no sharp short -term voltage jumps on the network, from which sensitive devices suffer, especially those where there are engines, refrigerators, washing machines and others, and also the latter are extremely not cheap. There are cases when they burned in all apartments at the house, but I do not know a single one when Oblenergo would compensate people with their losses - it is practically impossible to prove the voltage jump in the voltage leap. Against this background, NKREKU optimism is very surprised: “It can be expected that these changes will positively affect the quality of power supply. Stable voltage will reduce the risks of damage to household appliances sensitive to fluctuations, and will also reduce the need for additional protective equipment, such as stabilizers ”. Stable, yes, but where to get it?

Therefore, the problem of stress jumps as it was and remains, and a simple paper transition to the EU standard will not solve it.
Will something in the payment of Ukrainians change?
Let's remember the school physics course. If water flows in the pipe, and you increase its pressure, whether the flow rate grows? Yes, therefore, at the same time, a larger amount of water will leak through the pipe.
The same happens with electric current. The power that your apartment or house consumes is defined as the work of current per voltage per unit of time, so if your counter does not come to 220V, but 230V, you will consume 4.5% more electricity - you want it whether you want it whether you want it. And if the permitted voltage of 253V comes, then your consumption will increase by 15%!
To make sure of his calculations, he called his classmate - the doctor of sciences and professor KPI, who eventually told me - no one has yet canceled the OMA Law.

Therefore, nothing will change in payment, the tariff remains the same - 4.32 UAH, but Ukrainians will now consume electricity.. And pay, I see. What is the price of the issue? Statistics are extremely incomplete and jerky, but something can be counted. If for November 2023.
- February 2024. household customers consumed 12.64 billion kW · h and paid for this (excluding discounts at night tariffs) about 54.6 billion UAH, then consumption growth in the minimum 4.5% in four months 2025–2026. add 2.5 billion UAH to the pockets of energy barons. On an even, so to speak, place. This is called business in Ukrainian.
In conclusion, I want to ask the NKREK - or maybe you need to review the tariff? Towards reducing....
