Natural gas reserves in the underground storage facilities of Ukraine have achieved a record low level, which creates serious risks for the stability of the energy system.
This was stated by Vladimir Omelchenko, director of the energy and infrastructure programs of the Razumkov Center.
" On average in the European Union, this indicator is 49%, ”the expert emphasized.
According to him, the situation is aggravated by cooling, which will lead to an increase in gas consumption. Omelchenko emphasized that in such conditions, Ukraine will not be able to do without importing blue fuel.
“In addition, we can not do without increasing the import of electric energy and natural gas, because practically our underground storage facilities today cannot ensure the needs of the economy, the population with those reserves that are now,” the expert said.
According to Omelchenko’s forecasts, the next two weeks will be critical for the country's energy system.
“Therefore, of course, the situation in the next two weeks will be difficult,” he warned.
Recently, the Minister of Energy Herman Galushchenko said that Ukraine additionally needs at least 1 billion cubic meters. m by the end of 2025.
