Today, February 11, the Verkhovna Rada will consider the bill, which should provide permission from Energoatom for the acquisition of two atomic reactors in Bulgaria for the completion of power units No. 3 and No. 4 of the Khmelnitsky nuclear power plant. We are talking about equipment that remains after the cancellation of the project for the construction of a new nuclear power plant in Bulgaria. Ukraine plans to use these reactors to complete the construction of the HAES-3 (readiness 80%) and HEES-4 (readiness 25%).

Recall that on January 16, the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Energy and Housing and Communal Services supported this bill by introducing acts in document No. 11392.

According to the Rating group, 80% of Ukrainians support the completion of the construction of the Khmelnitsky nuclear power plant. Earlier, President Vladimir Zelensky also called on parliamentarians to contribute to the implementation of this project, noting its importance for the country's energy security.

It is expected that the adoption of the law will accelerate the modernization of Ukrainian nuclear energy and strengthen the state’s energy independence.
