Due to a full-scale war with Russia, the financial situation of Ukrainians has worsened. In response to this, the government took a number of measures aimed at reducing the financial burden on the population. For example, under certain conditions, citizens were given the opportunity not to pay utility bills. The publication "

According to lawyer Alexander Pasternak, citizens may not pay for utilities if they have not lived in their housing for more than 30 days. However, this rule does not apply to payments for centralized heating and gas supply.. In this case, absence from the house must be documented by providing the following documents:.

Since March 2022, according to the lawyer, Ukrainians are prohibited from collecting debts for housing and communal services that have accumulated since the beginning of a full-scale war. This ban was established by Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 208 and will remain in effect until the end of hostilities or temporary occupation of the territory where the housing is located. Also, payments for utilities will not be charged if housing was destroyed during hostilities and utilities were turned off.. However, debt incurred before February 24, 2022 will still have to be repaid.

Pasternak emphasized that it is important for Ukrainians who have the right to cancel charges for utility services to collect all the necessary documents and notify service providers about the existence of grounds for exemption from payments. This can be done either in written or electronic form.. This approach will help avoid unpleasant situations, since utility companies, even in times of war, sue consumers who do not pay housing and communal services on time.

Ukrainian laws do not temporarily apply to regions that were captured by the occupiers. Taking advantage of this, the Russians are creating chaos and depriving Ukrainians of housing. Citizens who are faced with such a situation have virtually no ways to protect themselves. However, experts advise:.

Let us remind you that a housing subsidy is not awarded if there is an overdue debt for utility bills of more than three months or losses for the management of a high-rise building that arose within three years, and the total amount of which exceeds 680 UAH, as Focus described earlier.

Focus previously wrote about how to get military benefits. In Ukraine, the old system faced difficulties in processing many applications from military personnel and their loved ones for status or benefits.
