The Verkhovna Rada adopted bill No. 9381, which proposes to allocate about UAH 10 billion of funds from NPC Ukrenergo to pay off debts on the electricity market.
This is discussed on the parliament website.
The law provides that the Ukrenergo company will pay off debts on the energy market using excess income received from dispatch control in 2023–2024. Thus, the company should use 45% of the amount to pay off debt on the balancing market, another 45% to pay off debt to industrial electricity producers for renewable energy sources.
The remaining 10% will be used to pay off debts to universal service providers for payments to home SES owners.
As previously reported, the debt of NPC Ukrenergo for compensation for the production of electricity from alternative sources to the state enterprise Guaranteed Buyer exceeded 30 billion hryvnia. According to experts, the government, parliament and the National Energy Commission must save the energy sector from paralysis due to existing multibillion-dollar debts that are constantly increasing.
