President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky signed Law No. 4174-IX, which expands the list of grounds for disclosing bank secrecy. The Law “On Banks and Banking Activities” has been amended to provide notaries with access to additional information about the property of missing persons. The explanatory note to the bill states that the bill was developed with the aim of ensuring legislative prerequisites for including in the list of grounds for disclosure of bank secrecy by banks cases of application of sanctions specified in decisions of authorized government bodies, consideration of cases to protect the interests of Ukraine as a state, as well as the adoption by notaries of measures to establish.

“The law stipulates that banks will disclose information constituting bank secrecy at the request of the Ministry of Justice in order to take measures to search for the property of persons subject to sanctions, to ensure the execution of a court decision to ban a political party, when considering cases to protect interests.

Ukraine as a state, as well as at the request of notaries for them to take measures to establish guardianship over the property of an individual who is recognized as missing, or a person missing under special circumstances,” says the explanatory note to the bill.
