The State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving (State Energy Efficiency) has prepared an appeal to the Director General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) Francesco La Camera demanding that Russia be excluded from the organization. The appeal will be sent through the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to IRENA Dmitry Senik.
The State Energy Efficiency Committee noted that Russia, which blew up one of the large hydroelectric power plants in Ukraine and Eastern Europe, once again proved that it has no right to be a member of world organizations in the field of clean energy.
“Our position is unchanged and unambiguous: we demand to exclude the Russian representative from IRENA,” said Anna Zamazeeva, head of the State Energy Efficiency.
The organization believes that the Russian Federation and the civilized world are moving in different directions.
“Russia’s presence in the authoritative international organization IRENA, which brings together more than 160 countries in the struggle for a sustainable future and helps everyone to switch to renewable energy sources, is unacceptable,” Zamazeeva is convinced.

As a result of undermining the dam of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station by Russian troops on the night of June 6, a significant part of the coastal territories downstream of the Dnieper was flooded, including the cities of Kherson, Novaya Kakhovka and others. While the Ukrainian authorities are evacuating the population from the right bank of the river, the worst situation is on the left bank of the Dnieper, which is temporarily occupied by Russian troops.
