A government bill on the introduction of a program providing for the provision of mortgage loans at 2% per annum was supported by the Senate of Poland a few days ago.

Some banks in Poland have already declared their readiness to issue housing loans under the government's Pierwsze Mieszkanie program, which should start from July 1, 2023 for those who want to purchase their first home without overpaying for bank loans.

While some banks are still waiting for the publication of the signed bill, which will outline the final terms of lending, others are already declaring their readiness to issue loans to the population. In particular, 6 institutions did this today: Bank PKO BP, Bank Pekao SA, Santander Bank, Alior Bank, Bank Ochrony Srodowiska and Bank Polskiej Spoldzielczosci.

At the same time, institutions such as mBank, ING Bank Slaski, BNP Paribas Bank, and Millennium Bank are “showing interest” for now, and their final decision to include or not include home loans in their new government program will depend on the details of the conditions..

The government program Pierwsze Mieszkanie, which should come into effect on July 1, 2023:.

Aimed exclusively at persons aged up to 45 who have never had their own home in Poland.



Within 10 years, the state will pay extra to banks for a mortgage loan so that the interest rate for those who receive it is only 2% (the state will pay the difference between the fixed bank rate on the loan and the two percent rate).

The maximum mortgage loan amount is 500 thousand. PLN, and for families - 600 thousand. zloty.

The maximum contribution of someone who wants to become a member of the program will be PLN 200,000.

Housing that will be bought under the Pierwsze Mieszkanie program can be both from the primary and from the secondary market.
