Despite the war, pensions and other social benefits continue to be paid in Ukraine. Indexation of pensions is also planned for March. Some pensioners continue to work after retirement, but they are also eligible for recalculation of benefits. The Pension Fund of Ukraine told how the pension of working pensioners should be recalculated and what factors can affect it.

The PFC noted that in accordance with the fourth part of Article 42 of the Law of Ukraine dated 09. 07. 2003 No. 1058-IV “On Compulsory State Pension Insurance”, the recalculation of pensions for working pensioners is carried out taking into account at least 24 months of insurance experience after the appointment of (previous) recalculation) of the pension or taking into account less than 24 months of insurance experience, but after the appointment (preliminary recalculation) has passed.

“The recalculation of pension payments is carried out taking into account the data on the insurance period from the register of insured persons of the State Register of Compulsory State Social Insurance on the basis of reports submitted by policyholders on the payment of a single contribution,” the report says..

The PFC explained the situation using the example of a working pensioner who applied for a pension recalculation on February 1, but her experience and salary were taken into account only until September 2022. Experts noted that this may be due to the timing of reporting.

PFU specialists noted that the quarterly report is submitted by policyholders within 40 calendar days after the end of the reporting quarter, information about the insurance period and wages of employees is reflected in the register of insured persons for several months from the date of payment of the ERUs.

When recalculating the pension, the length of service and earnings up to September 2022 inclusive were taken into account, since data on the length of service and earnings for the IV quarter of 2022 as of February 1, 2023 were not received by the Pension Fund of Ukraine.

Earlier we wrote whether indexation will affect the income of working pensioners.
