The Russians tried to provoke an accident on the Urengoy-Pomary-Uzhgorod gas pipeline

On July 25, the gas transmission system operator of Ukraine (OGTSU) recorded a sharp increase in pressure in the Urengoy-Pomary-Uzhgorod main gas pipeline on the section of the state border between Ukraine and the Russian Federation.

The Russian monopoly Gazprom did not warn about the increase in pressure. The Ukrainian side warned the Russian Federation that switching and changing regimes could lead to emergency situations on the main gas pipeline.

She also reminded of the need to coordinate actions in accordance with the algorithm determined by the current inter-operator agreement.

“Such uncoordinated actions of Gazprom cause concern. Untimely informing the Operator carries potential risks for the regular operation of the Ukrainian GTS. Such a move looks especially dangerous for Europe, after Gazprom again reduced transit through Nord Stream 1 to 33 million cubic meters.. m per day,” said Sergey Makogon, director of the OGTSU.

In 2009, under similar circumstances of uncoordinated actions between operators, an accident occurred on the gas pipeline of Turkmenistan.
