This week (on Friday, July 1) the Verkhovna Rada adopted bill No. 7251 “On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine on the Optimization of Labor Relations”, which was voted by 277 deputies.
According to the explanatory note, the bill provides for the introduction of new grounds for terminating an employment contract during martial law at the initiative of the employer. Now an employee can be fired due to:.
the impossibility of providing him with work specified in the employment contract due to the destruction (absence) of production, organizational and technical conditions, means of production or property of the employer as a result of hostilities;
absence of an employee from work and information about the reasons for such absence for more than four months in a row.
In addition, the bill provides for a reduction in the term for warning employees about dismissal - employees must be warned about dismissal no later than 10 calendar days, and not 2 months, as it was before.
If the dismissal of workers is massive, the employer must notify the state employment service 10 calendar days before the dismissal, and within five calendar days consult with trade unions on measures to prevent layoffs or minimize their number or mitigate adverse effects.
