Ukraine can receive financial guarantees from the US government for the purchase of gas or use for this purpose the funds that will come to the country under lend-lease. This was announced by the head of NJSC "

Vitrenko explained that work is underway with the US government to resolve this issue.. Among the options is the provision of financial guarantees for the purchase of gas.

"

Before the start of the heating season, it is necessary to accumulate at least 19 billion cubic meters of fuel in Ukrainian gas storage facilities - Shmyhal set this task for Naftogaz at the last government meeting.

Today, there is a little more than 10 billion cubic meters of blue fuel in underground storage facilities.. And the download continues.

But even taking into account the current low domestic consumption, part of the gas will have to be purchased.

According to the data of the Government, which were presented at the May meeting of the Parliamentary Energy Committee, it was indicated the need to import 2.7 billion cubic meters of gas to Ukraine. Another 1.8 billion cubic meters of fuel must be purchased on the domestic market from domestic companies.

The head of Naftogaz, Yuriy Vitrenko, announced in early June in Washington that it was necessary to import up to 6 billion cubic meters of gas, which at current prices costs about $8 billion..

Given the state of war, exact information about the reserves of energy resources and their needs is not disclosed.. Only a limited number of people have access to it, and it is still impossible to assess the objective needs for gas.

“The volumes announced by Vitrenko indicate that our consumption did not seem to fall, enterprises did not stop, millions of people did not go abroad, and all consumers will be able to receive gas volumes as in pre-war times.. It is not yet clear how the situation will develop in the future, whether it is possible to resume the bombed facilities, so I cannot accurately predict how much gas is needed. It is possible that Ukraine will have enough of the volume that is now in storage and which will be produced in the country,"

At the same time, NJSC Naftogaz also does not leave attempts to receive compensation from the state for the difference between the price of gas purchases and the cost of its sales to end consumers..

"

To this end, the Parliament has already registered a bill providing for unprecedented financing of the gas market in 2022..

By document, the government proposes to " Issue price – UAH 264 billion.

Of these, more than UAH 188 billion is international and donor assistance, UAH 64.5 billion are Naftogaz dividends and another UAH 11.6 billion are NAK’s profit tax.

What does this amount consist of Directly, Naftogaz will receive UAH 150.1 billion as compensation for fulfilling its special obligations (PSO) to sell gas at preferential prices. Compensation for the difference in tariffs will also be received by the fuel and energy complex and regional gas companies - UAH 76 billion, as well as local budgets - UAH 38.2 billion.

Recall that the annual tariff for the population is 7.99 UAH.. per cubic meter of gas. And the market price is almost UAH 29 per cubic meter.

Almost the entire Ukrainian energy sector suffered heavy losses from Russian strikes.. During the 109 days of the war, nuclear, oil refining, power generation, coal mining, distribution and utility infrastructure facilities were damaged.

In particular, Ukraine lost the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station, three thermal power plants (TPPs) and about 40% of all renewable energy facilities..

Under occupation since March 4 is the largest in continental Europe and the third largest nuclear power plant in the world - Zaporozhye NPP. Currently, it continues to work in the energy system of Ukraine, observing the norms of nuclear, radiation and environmental safety..

To date, there are a number of mines, the restoration of which is impossible.. We are talking about the Zolote and Toshkivska mines in the Luhansk region, as well as Yuzhnodonbasska No. 1 and the mine named after. Surgay in Donetsk region.

The oil infrastructure also suffered greatly from the war: two of the two oil refineries were shut down, dozens of tank farms were damaged, and a huge number of gas stations remain under occupation..

In addition, due to hostilities, 249 critical infrastructure facilities in the field of heat supply were damaged or completely destroyed..

Thermal power plants in Akhtyrka and Kremenchug have significant damage, 4 thermal power plants (CHP) in the Dnipropetrovsk region, in Donetsk, Kharkov and Chernihiv regions are damaged.

262 boiler houses and a large number of auxiliary premises were destroyed or damaged in the regions.

Since February 24, due to hostilities, more than 2.6 thousand. settlements and 20.2 thousand. transformer substations. Power supply to about 3.7 million consumers was interrupted for a while.

Until now, 725 settlements and about 621.4 thousand consumers remain without electricity..

President Volodymyr Zelensky said that as a result of the war with the Russian Federation, this winter will be the most difficult for Ukraine in all the years of independence..
