Russian gas supplies to Finland may end late on Friday May 20 or the next day, national gas distributor Gasum has warned.

At the same time, the company notes that it has not received any information on this matter from Gazprom Export LLC or from the gas transportation organization..

Gasum reportedly prepared for such a development, along with its customers and the authorities responsible for emergency supplies..

In the summer of 2022, Finland hopes to supply gas from Estonia via the Balticconnector gas pipeline, but capacity constraints on this pipeline may complicate this task.

Earlier, Gasum did not accept the demand of the Russian side to switch to a new gas payment system in rubles and intends to file a lawsuit in arbitration.

Russia has been supplying natural gas to Finland for over 45 years. In December 2015, Gazprom Export and Gasum extended the contract until December 31, 2031.
