A Russian court has seized half a billion rubles worth of Google's property located at the company's representative office in Moscow, for the fact that YouTube video hosting (owned by Google) closed one of the channels of the Russian gas monopoly Gazprom. It is reported by Forbes Russia.

It is reported that the Moscow Arbitration Court took interim measures in respect of the property and accounts of the Russian branch of Google (Google LLC) in the amount of 500 million rubles at the claim of GPM Entertainment Television LLC (owned by Gazprom Media).

According to the court decision, the subsidiary of Gazprom-Media demanded to invalidate the ban on posting its content on YouTube, to restore full access to its channel, and to collect a court penalty.

The lawsuit also includes Google Ireland Ltd, Google LLC and Google Commerce Ltd..

Recall, earlier it also became known that a Russian court fined Meta, a company banned in the Russian Federation, which owns the social networks Instagram and Facebook, for 4 million rubles for refusing to remove content banned in Russia..

Although on March 11, the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation demanded that Roskomnadzor block the social network Instagram in the territory of the aggressor country, since “publications with calls to commit violent acts against citizens of the Russian Federation, including military personnel” are distributed on this network. Blocking Instagram in Russia started on March 14. And Facebook in Russia was supposed to be blocked from March 4 for “applying censorship to Russian media”.
