Ukraine no longer needs to pay Russia for storing spent nuclear fuel. Energoatom received permission to commission our own Centralized Spent Nuclear Fuel Storage Facility. Savings in monetary terms will reach 200 million dollars a year. This was reported by the press service of Energoatom.

The relevant permission from the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate was received on April 25. According to the schedule, permission should have been granted on March 9, but the war made its own adjustments. Due to the invaders in the Chernobyl exclusion zone, the commissioning of the facility had to be postponed.

At present, the storage facility is completely ready for operation, Energoatom reports.. The enterprise did not suffer from the actions of the occupiers - all equipment, computer and special equipment operate in normal mode.
