More than a dozen Ukrainian companies with a history of ties to Igor Kolomoisky have filed a petition with the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia to uphold a $35 million arbitration award against Russia in favor of these companies.. Russian media write about it.
Businesses rely on Russian assets blocked due to sanctions. Kolomoisky himself is on the sanctions list.
It is noted that the proceedings of Kolomoisky’s structures against Russia in international arbitration are one of a number of similar cases in which Ukrainian plaintiffs state their claims regarding the loss of their assets in Crimea and Sevastopol as a result of the annexation of the peninsula to Russia in 2014..
In 2019, an arbitration court in Switzerland ruled that Russia had violated an investment protection agreement and awarded the plaintiffs $34.6 million in damages.. Russia challenged the arbitration verdict in the Swiss Supreme Court, but to no avail. The structures of Kolomoisky, who himself is under US sanctions, expect that funds can be obtained from Russia’s assets frozen by Washington.

Earlier it was reported that Ukraine should urgently demand the arrest of the frozen assets of the Russian Federation, as it may be late.
