The reform of school meals in the Kharkiv region was discussed during the operational meeting of the head of the HOCA.

On January 1, 2022, the transitional period of the nutrition reform in educational institutions ended. Now the reform of school meals, initiated by First Lady Olena Zelenska, should work in full.

In particular, as Oleg Sinegubov, the chairman of the HOCA, said during the operational meeting, the region is currently preparing projects for the modernization of food units in educational institutions, which can be financed by state subventions.

“A state subvention is planned from the Ministry for the Development of Communities and Territories for the repair of catering facilities and eating places, for the Kharkiv region its amount is almost UAH 95 million. Now we are developing design and estimate documentation, determining the list of establishments that may fall under the terms of financing,” said Oleg Sinegubov.

He noted that the modernization should affect both large schools and special institutions that do not meet the conditions of the program in terms of the number of students, but are specialized.

According to Anzhelika Krutova, director of the Department of Education and Science of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, during 2020 and 2021, new technological equipment for 225 institutions of general secondary education was purchased in the Kharkiv region through state subvention on terms of co-financing, which is 32% of their total number.

“Currently, new nutritional standards for students have been introduced in all institutions of general secondary education in the region,” said Anzhelika Krutova.
