An analysis of the number of accidents that occurred in Ukraine in the first 10 months of 2021 and in comparison with last year shows that the installation of cameras for automatic recording of traffic violations did not affect the number of accidents. This is reported by the open data platform Opendatabot, referring to the data of the National Police.

So, for 10 months of 2021 the number of road accidents in Ukraine increased by 14%, there were 154,480 road accidents. This is 14% more than in the same period last year.

For example, the largest number of cameras were placed in Kiev and the Kiev region, however, from January to October 2021, the number of road accidents increased by 19% - 51,556 cases against 43,303 in the same period last year..

In total, a third of the total number of accidents occurs in this region..

The largest surge in accidents was recorded in Ivano-Frankivsk and Nikolaev regions. In both regions, the number of road accidents increased by 24%.

At the same time, the incidence of accidents with victims across the country decreased by 6%, and with fatalities - by 9% compared to the same period in 2020..

So, in Kiev and Kiev region, the number of road accidents with the dead decreased by 16%. The number of accidents with victims decreased by 8%.

The worst dynamics in road accidents with victims was recorded in Ivano-Frankivsk and Ternopil regions. The total number of such cases increased by 21% and 20%, respectively.

The best dynamics of the victims is observed in the Odessa and Volyn regions. In the Odessa region, the number of such cases decreased by 21%, and in the Volyn region - by 20%..

In terms of the number of accidents with fatalities, the best dynamics is observed in the Zaporozhye (-27%), Kiev (-21%) and Odessa (-21%) regions.

The worst is Ternopil (+ 31%) and Chernivtsi regions (+ 26%).
