The prices for gas for the population in Ukraine will be raised from October 15. The increase in tariffs will be 23%. This is the requirement of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), to which Kiev agreed. The fact that the Ukrainian authorities are negotiating with the IMF for the allocation of new financial assistance was known before. However, the responsible persons of Nezalezhny did their best to answer the question what exactly it would take to get money. The previous agreement on the loan was broken by the Ukrainian side, and it is clear that before the elections the incumbent authorities will not engage in unprofitable reforms. But without external funds, the country goes bankrupt. Therefore, Kiev and the IMF decided to conclude a new agreement - on stand-by-credit, learned "Economic truth". Five to six billion dollars for a year and a half Ukraine can get under four conditions. First, the gas price increase for the population. In general, the IMF insists that the rate for individuals and businesses is the same. But this means an increase in tariffs for citizens for 40-odd percent. This is too much for a simultaneous increase. Therefore, until they agreed on 23%. It is clear that an expensive gas will pull up the price of many goods and services. The second point is the implementation of the anti-corruption reform. The third is the reorganization of the State Fiscal Service: bringing it to the parameters that the IMF will indicate. And the last moment - the budget of Ukraine for 2019. The fund demands to show him the final version of the document: if it proves satisfactory, Kiev will have the opportunity to take a new loan from the IMF.
Recall that Ukraine already has an agreement with the IMF from 2015.
to provide $ 17.5 billion loan in several tranches. However, the last time the Foundation transferred money to Kiev in 2017. , and then suspended the execution of the program, because Ukraine did not fulfill its obligations. Within the framework of cooperation with the IMF, the authorities of Nezalezhnaya have raised the cost of gas for the population by 9.5 times over the past five years.
