Prices for the most common goods and services in Sofia (Bulgaria) are lower than in other EU cities. Following it are Bucharest (Romania) and Budapest (Hungary). Such data leads in its rating the Swiss bank UBS. In Sofia, a family of three people spends on a set of 128 goods and services half that of a similar family in New York (this city was taken for the standard by the researchers). In Bucharest, costs are 54% of New York, in Budapest - 56%. The rating includes 77 cities from all over the world. Among them, Zurich occupies the first place in terms of costs - there they spend 17% more per month than New York (117%), followed by Geneva (113%), Oslo (108%).

Budapest is ranked 64th in the ranking, Bucharest 66th, Sofia 70th. The capital of Ukraine - Kiev - was on the 75th place. The cheapest was life in Cairo - where residents live on average 35% of the cost of New Yorkers. The cost of living in different cities of UBS is published every three years. In addition to the cost of living, another 3 indicators are considered: the level of earnings, the average time at work and the solvency of residents of different cities.
