The volume of hryvnia deposits in banks in August decreased by 4.1%, to 494.49 billion UAH. This is reported by the National Bank of Ukraine on the official website.
In total, according to the NBU, deposits of citizens decreased by 1.3%, to 251.74 billion UAH, business - by 6.8%, to 242.75 billion UAH.
Since the beginning of the year, hryvnia deposits in Ukrainian banks have increased by only 0.8%, while foreign currency deposits - by 1.4%. Growth was ensured by deposits of citizens, which in hryvnia increased by 7.1%, in currency - by 3.8%. The corporate sector reduced its deposits both in hryvnia - by 5%, and in currency - by 1.1%.
The regulator explains the sharp decline in hryvnia business funds on accounts in banks by paying quarterly tax and other payments to the budget.
