Duty-free deliveries of petroleum products to the neighboring state are economically unprofitable, the head of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak. His words provoked a stormy reaction in Belarus. They believe that to impose additional charges on exported oil products means to violate bilateral agreements.
The proposal of the Russian minister contradicts the norms of the Eurasian Economic Union, believes the chairman of the concern "Belneftekhim" Andrei Rybakov. "The lack of raw materials will reduce the loading of individual enterprises, which will adversely affect the competitiveness of the Belarusian petrochemical products," he explained, what threatens the new initiative, the state agency "BelTA". According to Rybakova, the introduction of restrictions and prohibitions on the supply of oil products, Russia will depart from the basic principles of the Treaty establishing the ЕАЭС.
