Domestic currency broke the negative trend and began to go up to the dollar and euro during the TV address of Vladimir Putin, which he devoted to improving the pension system. Thus, investors reacted positively to news from the Kremlin. As of 13:00 Moscow time, the value of the US dollar on the Moscow stock exchange is 67.95 rubles. This is 8 cents less than yesterday's closing level. Euro meanwhile rose from the opening of trading at 7 cents and is traded at a price of 79.29 rubles, according to the website of the trading platform. At the beginning of the speech of the head of state, the dollar grew to the ruble by 24 kopecks, the euro added about 13 kopecks. However, then the vector changed: during the speech, the ruble strengthened against the dollar by 20 cents, to the euro jumped by 40 cents, RIA Novosti notes.. Opinions of experts on how the Russian currency will behave today differed. Some said that the ruble will continue to decline on fears of players about the imminent introduction of a new package of US sanctions that could lead to a ban on the purchase of Russian securities. Others pointed out that the weakening of the US dollar would lead to some strengthening of the currencies of emerging markets (including the ruble) and a rise in the price of gold. At the same time, none of the experts evaluated the impact of the president's "retirement" speech on the national currency.

During the television speech, Vladimir Putin announced the softening of the parameters of legislative amendments to the pension legislation. He suggested setting a retirement age for women at 60 (rather than at 63, as suggested earlier), for men at age 65. In addition, the head of state came forward with an initiative to reduce the length of service for three years, giving the right to early retirement, and to provide for special privileges for large mothers in the legislation.
