Low-cost Ryanair announced the introduction of significant restrictions on free transportation of hand luggage on their flights, which will be performed from November 1, 2018. The new rules will be valid for all bookings and stipulate that passengers who do not pay the priority landing service will be able to carry only one small piece of hand luggage free of charge. Travelers who bought a ticket before September 1, 2018, in case of disagreement with the new rules will be able to return the money for the reservation under the procedure of forced return. The dimensions of a small object that can be taken to the aircraft cabin will be increased from 35x20x20 cm to 40x20x25 cm. At the same time, new control frames at airports will be calculated with a margin for items with dimensions up to 42x20x30 cm. After the introduction of the new rules, passengers who want to take with them a large piece of hand luggage with dimensions of 55x40x20 cm and weighing up to 10 kg can do this by paying a priority boarding service at a cost of 6 euros or a baggage fee of 8 euros at the time of booking a ticket. In the event that fees are paid after the purchase of the ticket, their amount increases to 8 and 10 euros respectively. In the first case, the passenger will be able to take a large object of hand luggage in the cabin of the aircraft, in the second - the suitcase will have to be handed over at the check-in counter. Now Ryanair allows all passengers to carry free of charge the main subject of hand luggage with dimensions up to 55x40x20 cm and weight up to 10 kg and personal item with dimensions up to 35x20x20 cm without weight restriction. However, the main subject of hand luggage for passengers who did not pay the priority landing service is transported free of charge in the luggage compartment of the aircraft. In Ryanair, the change in terms of transportation of things is argued by the fact that the current policy on hand luggage leads to delays and does not allow short 25-minute turns of aircraft between flights. In 2012, a similar policy for carrying hand luggage introduced a low-cost Wizz Air. The budgetary employee allowed to take only a small piece of hand luggage free of charge to the salon, and in case the passenger wanted to take a larger bag to the plane, he had to pay a special fee. From this practice, Wizz Air refused in 2017. Initially, Ryanair allowed to take in the aircraft cabin for free one thing with dimensions up to 55x40x20 cm and weighing up to 10 kg. As part of the program to improve the service from December 1, 2013 all passengers were able to carry a personal item with dimensions up to 35x20x20 cm. In early 2017, the head of Ryanair Michael O'Leary threatened that the airline could reconsider the policy of carrying hand luggage on its flights because of passenger abuse. "We are experiencing problems at the gateways, because many passengers carry half of the things from their home instead of one standard-sized bag and one small bag," O'Leary said, adding that some travelers come to the station altogether with three bags. "If this does not stop, we plan to change this policy [on carrying hand luggage]", - commented then the situation head of Ryanair. Since January 15, 2018, Ryanair has introduced restrictions on the transportation of hand luggage in the cabin. To take the big and small subjects with themselves have allowed only to the passengers who have paid service of a priority landing. The large carry-on baggage of the rest of the passengers was also confiscated from the boarding gate for free transportation in the luggage compartment of the aircraft. Source: avianews. com.
