The head of the board of the Russian gas monopoly Gazprom Alexei Miller said that the company filed a new lawsuit on the termination of existing contracts for the supply and transit of gas to Ukraine, and the formation of the tribunal of the Stockholm Arbitration.

He said this at a press conference, reports the Left Bank.

Earlier, the Stockholm Arbitration Court ruled to recover 2.56 billion dollars from Gazprom in favor of the National Joint Stock Company Naftogaz of Ukraine. According to Miller, this decision was "asymmetric" and violated "the balance in the interests of the parties". The head of the board also mentioned the decision of the Svea County Court of Appeal to suspend execution of the decision of the Stockholm Arbitration Court.

Miller added that the main condition for further negotiations is the restoration of the balance in the interests of the parties, including the cancellation of the decision of the Stockholm Arbitration Court of Appeal and constructive proposals from Ukraine.

He also stressed that Ukraine should provide arguments on the economic feasibility of transit through its territory, answering the question of the further interaction of Gazprom and Naftogaz in conditions of the transit of a certain volume of gas through the territory of Ukraine after 2019.

Recall, in mid-June it was reported that in Sweden, the appellate court suspended execution of the Stockholm arbitration award on the dispute between the Russian company Gazprom and Naftogaz of Ukraine. It was noted that Gazprom filed an appropriate petition in order to prevent Naftogaz from demanding execution of this decision in various instances before the consideration of the appeal on the merits.
