On Thursday, June 21, the Arbitration Court of the Moscow District refused to satisfy the cassation complaint of Siemens Gas Turbine Technology (STGT), a joint venture of the German concern Siemens and the Russian company Silovye Mashiny. STGT filed an appeal against the decision of lower courts that refused to file a claim against the companies Tekhnopromexport LLC and Technopromexport OJSC in the case of the "Crimean turbines".

Belonging to a 65 percent German electrical giant, the company requires the return of turbines produced for the power plant in Taman, but supplied to the annexed Crimea.

The German concern is involved in the case as a third party and does not act as an independent plaintiff.

The scandal surrounding the supply of German gas turbine installations to the Crimea in spite of EU sanctions broke out last summer. Siemens accuses both Tekhnopromexport of not observing the terms of the agreement. In response to the displacement of turbines, the EU introduced additional sanctions against three Russian companies and three individuals.
