"The cosmonaut becomes a retired pensioner after he spent 10 years as an astronaut (in the cosmonaut detachment) or 7.5 years, if this is a woman, including the period when he was a candidate for cosmonauts," he told RIA Novosti news agency.. According to the law, the cosmonaut's pension is just over half his salary. However, when joining a detachment, a person receives the title of only "candidate for cosmonauts".
