The bill on raising the age, when one can go on a well-deserved rest, does not concern astronauts. This was reported in the Cosmonauts Training Center (GTC) named after Gagarin. As the official representative of the CPC, for cosmonauts, there are separate rules for calculating the time of retirement. "The cosmonaut becomes a retired pensioner after he spent 10 years as an astronaut (in the cosmonaut detachment) or 7.5 years, if this is a woman, including the period when he was a candidate for cosmonauts," he told RIA Novosti news agency.. According to the law, the cosmonaut's pension is just over half his salary. However, when joining a detachment, a person receives the title of only "candidate for cosmonauts".

Provided that he was never in space and did not receive various allowances, his salary is just under 61 thousand rubles. Earlier on June 14, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev announced an increase in the retirement age to 65 years for men and 63 years for women. The increase will begin already in 2019 and will take place in several stages over a period of 15 years. Thus, for the male part of the population, the bar was lifted for five years, and for the female one - at once by eight.
