Between the "Nord Stream-2" and "Turkish Stream" gas pipelines under construction, according to which Russia intends to supply gas to Europe bypassing Ukraine, there is one essential difference.

About this "Apostrophe. Economics "said the director of special projects of the scientific and technical center" Psyche "Gennady Ryabtsev.

According to the expert, it consists in the fact that the "Nord Stream-2" does not pass through the territory of the European Union, since it is an entirely offshore gas pipeline. In this regard, the highway is not subject to regulation by the European leadership.

At the same time, the Turkish flow "passes through Turkey, which gives the EU leverage.

"As soon as the pipe touches the territory of the European Union," explained Ryabtsev.

Earlier, the authorities of Russia and Bulgaria agreed on the possible route of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline through the territory of the EU. It was determined that the highway will pass through Bulgaria.

The project "Turkish Stream" was announced by the Russian leadership in December 2014 as a replacement for the "South Stream", which blocked the EU.

The project is implemented by Moscow to reduce the transit of gas through the territory of Ukraine.

The gas pipeline will consist of two threads with a capacity of 15.75 billion cubic meters. m each. They will be laid on the bottom of the Black Sea from Russia to the coast of Turkey. One of them should provide the gas needs of Turkey, the second gas is planned to be supplied to Europe.

The use of the Turkish Stream for gas supplies to Europe should be given the consent of the EU.
