Thanks to the World Cup, Russia's economy received 820 billion rubles, which is an additional 1% of GDP. These are the estimates of the consulting company McKinsey. Experts note that this is the total revenue for the entire period of preparation for the World Cup - from 2013 to 2018. The most favorable football event was for Mordovia and the Kaliningrad region. There the growth of regional GDP - taking into account the potential profit expected to be received directly during the matches - will be more than 15%, Vedomosti writes on the basis of the report of experts. In general, the operation of the infrastructure built for the FM, not only sports, and an increase in the tourist flow can bring an additional 120-180 billion rubles. to GDP annually over the next five years. In particular, the cities where the World Cup matches will attract the attention of Russians by 10-26% more than usual, the influx of foreign tourists will grow by 14-18%. Small and medium enterprises will receive from 100 to 150 billion rubles. proceeds. It will be organized from 140 to 200 thousand jobs, and this will not only improve the standard of living of the population, but also provide additional tax revenues to the budget. At the same time, officially 1.2 trillion rubles was spent on preparations for the World Cup 2018. Here, spending not only on stadiums, but also airports, hotels, public catering points. All this will pay off with interest, experts predict.

However, this optimism is not shared by all. In particular, the chief economist of Alfa Bank, Natalia Orlova, cites the example of the Sochi Olympics: there it was not possible to achieve significant growth in tourism revenues because of the negative economic policy in the world. Given the current attacks on Russia, one can hardly expect a flood of foreigners who want to better understand the depths of our country. FIFA World Cup 2018. will be held in 11 cities of Russia from June 14 to July 15.
