The first deputy chairman of the Central Bank Ksenia Yudaeva believes that the financial literacy of Russians has grown significantly. "Last week, when the dollar fell, people converted their savings in dollars into rubles," RIA Novosti quotes Yudaeva as saying.. She added that this information was provided to the regulator by the largest Russian banks. Because of the new anti-Russian sanctions imposed by the United States, the ruble rate fell by more than 10% last week, and then rose again, thanks to higher oil prices. Analysts believe that the appreciation of the ruble was facilitated by the White House's statement that there is no plan to introduce new sanctions against Russia in the foreseeable future.
