Head of Naftogaz of Ukraine Andrei Kobelev believes that in the difficulties of his company, former Ukrainian politicians, as well as residents of the country.
"Ukraine was a victim of the so-called closed circle associated with gas consumption from Russia," Kobelev said, speaking at the CERAWeek oil and gas conference.
For this, populist politicians used two approaches: that Ukraine itself produces super-cheap gas and that it should only buy gas in Russia.
As a result, according to Kobelev, "a gigantic inefficient consumption" has been formed in the country: Ukraine counting on one square meter of households consumed gas six times more compared to a comparable European country.
