The National Bank of Ukraine set for February 13 the hryvnia exchange rate against the US dollar at the level of 26 hryvnia 84 kopecks per unit of American currency. Less than 27 hryvnia dollar is in Ukraine for the first time in the last two and a half months. At the level of 26 hryvnia 83-87 kopecks, the official rate was last 28 and 29 November.
Over the past few weeks, the prevalence of the dollar supply over demand has been observed in the interbank foreign exchange market. Hryvnia with minor interruptions strengthened for the third week in a row.
January 22 quotations reached 28 hryvnia 90 kopecks per dollar, since then the national currency has been steadily strengthening. During these weeks, the NBU regularly entered the market to buy back surplus dollars and prevent excessive fluctuations.
