Latvia and Lithuania raise excises on fuel and tobacco

As a result, fuel prices are rising in the country. Thus, as reported on Monday, January 8, the Ministry of Finance of the country, the price for lead-free gasoline will increase by 0.048 euros, diesel fuel - by 0.038 euros per liter.

Then, since March 1 of this year, Latvia will also grow prices for alcoholic beverages. A bottle of wine with a capacity of 0.7 liters will rise in price by 0.119 euros, in 2019 - by 0.076 euros, in 2020 - by 0.085 euro.

In this case, a bottle of vodka in 2018 will cost 0.532 euro more, in 2019 - by 0.411 euros, in 2020 - another 0.448 euros. A half-liter bottle of beer - by 0.072 euros, by 0.019 euros and by 0.022 euros, respectively.

From July 1, the country will also rise in price cigarettes by 0.243 euros, and in 2019 - by 0.131 euros.

At the same time, Lithuania has also increased the excise tax on diesel fuel since the new year. So from 330,17 euros to 347 euro per thousand liters. Accordingly, 1 liter of diesel fuel will rise in price by about 2 cents, whereas now it costs about 1.1 euros.

At the same time, natural gas is released from excise duties if it is used as a motor fuel.



In addition, the parliament of Lithuania in early December adopted amendments to the law on excise tax, according to which from March 1, 2018, the cost of tobacco products will increase: to 59 euros per 1,000. pieces of cigarettes. Also, excises for cigars will rise to 37 euros per 1 kg.

Recall, as reported URA-Inform, since March 2017 Lithuania has increased excise taxes on alcoholic beverages. Excise rates for beer rose by 112%, for wine and similar beverages - on average by 100%, for ethyl alcohol by 23%.
