Polish authorities intend to change the conditions for the transportation of Russian gas through the territory of Poland to Germany. This was stated by the authorized representative of the country's government on strategic energy infrastructure Perth Naimsky in an interview with the weekly Gazeta Polska. According to him, the government of former Prime Minister Donald Tusk and ex-vice-premier Valdemar Pavlak "refused real money that belonged to Poland and Europol Gaz". "The contract contains a clause limiting the annual income of Europol Gaz to 21 million zlotys (about $ 5.9 million at the current exchange rate - Ed.. ), which means that the Russians transported 30 billion cubic meters of gas through Poland for free.
This is strange. In this it is difficult to just believe, "- indignant Naimsky. He believes that now his country has no benefit from the transit of Russian blue fuel, however the current government will "try to change the situation whenever possible". Also, Naimsky noted that when the long-term contract for the delivery of gas to Russia from Poland - which will happen in 2022 - does not mean that Warsaw will refuse to pump fuel to Germany on the Polish section of the Yamal gas pipeline,. "We only want transportation to be based on market principles," the Biznes Alert portal quotes the representative of the Cabinet. Naimsky stressed that the Polish authorities plan to supply 6-8 billion cubic meters of gas to Ukraine annually, and also to develop another project for the transfer of Norwegian fuel - the Baltic Pipe gas pipeline, whose cost is estimated at about 1.7 billion euros (more than half of the costs should be taken by the Polish Gaz-System). This gas main is planned to be commissioned in 2022. "Thanks to Baltic Pipe, we will be able to supply up to 10 billion cubic meters of gas to Poland. In combination with the expansion of the gas port in Swinoujscie (the Polish offshore LNG terminal), this will give approximately 16-18 billion cubic meters per year, "said Naimsky. In his opinion, such a volume will fully satisfy all of Poland's current needs for blue fuel, but also "will also allow the purchase of gas from the north by its neighbors". Meanwhile, experts are skeptical about the effectiveness of this project.
For comparison, the capacity of the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline, through which Russian gas flows through Belarus to Poland at present, is 33 billion cubic meters.
Recall that the company Europol Gaz (JV "Gazprom" and the Polish state-owned company PGNiG) is the owner and operator of the Polish section of the gas pipeline "Yamal-Europe". Gazprom and PGNiG own 48% of the company's shares, the remaining 4% belong to Gas-Trading. Earlier, the Polish media wrote that the government of the country, concluding a contract with the Russian Federation in 2009, did not even try to agree on a gas price, and the document included a paragraph limiting Europol Gaz's profit of 20 million zlotys, RIA Novosti reports.. It is alleged that Pavlak agreed to all the conditions of the Russian side.
