According to the US department these companies work for the military-industrial complex of Russia. As reported by Radio Liberty, sanctions are imposed on the design bureau Novator and the research and production center Titan-Barrikady.
At the same time, the ministry said on December 19 that these companies are responsible for the production of cruise missiles prohibited by the Arms Control Treaty between the Soviet Union and the United States in 1987, since they produce complexes of ground-based cruise missiles with a range for the Russian Ministry of Defense of flights.
In addition, the US department notes that there is ample reason to believe that punished companies "were involved in activities that are contrary to the national security or foreign policy interests of the United States".
In turn, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia has already criticized the US decision, calling the accusations "pointless" and stated that they are not accustomed to sanctions.
At the same time, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov assured that the Russian economy and military power are only getting stronger, and the illusions of some American politicians that we can be intimidated only betray their complete ignorance of Russia and dangerous short-sightedness.
Recall, as reported URA-Inform, the leaders of the European Union for the first time without any disputes unanimously supported the extension of sanctions against Russia.
