The head of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Maxim Oreshkin called the increase in the retirement age the possibility to pay elderly Russians more worthy money after completing their work. If the age level is raised, this will improve the health care system, and first of all, improvements will affect the elderly.

In addition, the government will have additional money to fulfill the social guarantees of the state. However, this issue requires a thoughtful and thorough discussion. In fact, society is invited to make a choice: work less and be content with the pennies that they receive today, or work longer and get more. "This is quite a difficult decision that the entire society must accept," Oreshkin said during an online interview with Gazeta. RU". However, the Minister considered it unnecessary to bring this issue to the referendum. In his opinion, there are people in power who are trusted by the Russians to decide for themselves such a question.

Oreshkin himself announced their readiness for the fact that he would have to wait longer to retire. According to him, he is young and plans his future in advance, so he is ready to work even up to 65 years, and if the forces allow, then even longer. Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that raising the retirement age is a very sensitive topic. Authorities actively discuss different options, but the final decision will be made only after a broad public debate.
