The amount of compensation may exceed 40 billion pounds sterling. British Prime Minister Teresa Mei reached an agreement with the European Union to keep the final amount of compensation for the country's exit from the EU, which could exceed 40 billion pounds sterling. This is reported by The Sunday Times. As noted, May assured the leaders of the European Union that the government of Britain is ready to pay a large sum for Brexit in exchange for agreeing the terms of the new trade agreement between London and Brussels.

"There will be no figures in the agreement on withdrawal from the EU," the newspaper quotes one of the high-ranking officials of the European Union. It is also reported that the parties will note specific British commitments to the EU and will not write them out in writing to avoid political noise. Recall that the European Union is developing a special plan in case negotiations on the withdrawal of the UK from the EU will end without an agreement on Brexit.
