The central bank also intends to authorize the rounding of bills for goods. As it says on the official website of the National Bank of Ukraine, coins of small denominations have almost ceased to play a significant role in the population's calculations for goods and services.

At the same time, the NBU believes that the cost of manufacturing such coins exceeds their nominal value. Currently, there are 12.9 billion pieces of coins in circulation, including one kopeck, 2.4 billion pieces, two kopecks - 1.4 billion pieces, five kopecks - 1.9 billion pieces, and 10 kopecks - 3.8 billion pieces. billion pieces, 25 kopecks - 1.7 billion pieces, 50 kopecks. - 1.2 billion pieces and one hryvnia - 0.5 billion pieces.

At the same time, the bank recalled that the main consumers of coins are retail chains, public catering establishments, public transport, pharmacies, Ukrposhta offices, organized and unorganized markets.

In this connection, the National Bank prepared a draft resolution on optimizing the circulation of coins of small denominations, which provides for the rejection of coinage because they ceased to play a significant role in the calculations, as well as coins with a face value of 25 kopecks, since in the absence of coins with denominations of 1, 2 and 5 kopecks 25 kopecks will not be exchanged for 10 kopecks.

At the same time, coins of all nominal denominations will continue to be in circulation.

However, cash circulation will not be replenished with new coins of these denominations, the NBU explained, adding that coins with denominations of 1, 2, 5 and 25 cents will continue to function as a means of payment.

Recall, as reported URA-Inform, in October the money supply in Ukraine increased by 0.1% and amounted to 1.12 trillion hryvnia.
