Russia provided Belarus with a loan of $ 700 million for a period of 10 years. The corresponding order of the Government of the Russian Federation is published on the Internet portal of legal information.

The loan, the document says, is provided in Russian rubles at the exchange rate of the Central Bank as of the date of signing the agreement between the governments. Loan payments are made in US dollars.

The loan was granted "for the purpose of repaying and servicing the public debt in 2017" of Belarus to Russia.

The loan agreement was reached at the meeting of the Presidents of Belarus and Russia, held on April 3 in St. Petersburg. In addition to allocating another loan, Bela Semashko, Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus, stated at the end of the meeting, Russia agreed to refinance the current debt of the republic, which amounts to 750-800 million dollars.
