Russian citizens will very soon have to tighten their belts again. As it became known, state subsidies for electricity costs can be sharply reduced. And in any social categories and at all to be reduced to a minimum.

This proposal was made by the Federal Antimonopoly Service of the Russian Federation. As Kommersant writes, the department will annually reduce electricity benefits for citizens who use electric stoves. The same will affect the countryman.

As planned in FAS cut-off will begin with a phased reduction of discounts on electricity. The program will begin to work as early as July 1, 2018 and will run until the middle of 2027. Thus, the discount will be reduced by 2% each year. As a result, instead of the 30% benefit, the residents will only have 10%.

Market participants, for which such a measure is taken, consider it insignificant: according to their calculations, the amount of cross-subsidization will be reduced only by 10-20 billion rubles.

Such measures are necessary to eliminate cross-subsidization, when those funds that do not pay the residents are paid by industrial consumers.

According to the representative of the Analytical Credit Rating Agency Natalia Prokhorova, the elimination of the "crossroads" will require an accelerated rise in electricity prices for the population, and this is an acute social issue. According to the economist, it will take about 1.5 times to increase the prices, but "it is unlikely to be realized in the coming years".
